Federal Business Energy Investment Tax Credit

As well as all the state tax and utility incentives there are also federal tax credits available for energy efficiency. Sometimes the Federal credits can be combined with the other offers to add up to big savings. The Business Energy Investment Tax Credit is a corporate tax credit for:Solar Water Heat, Solar Space Heat, Solar Thermal Electric, Solar Thermal Process Heat, Photovoltaics, Wind, Biomass, Geothermal Electric, Fuel Cells, Geothermal Heat Pumps, CHP/Cogeneration, Solar Hybrid Lighting, Direct-Use Geothermal, and Micro turbines. The amount vary by the type of energy. 30% of the cost for solar and small wind energy can be taken or $200 per kWh for micro turbines. The money comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This credit is set to expire December 31, 2016, so there is plenty of time to get these energy efficiency measures installed. Connecticut Motor Up Rebate

The Motor Up rebate is available to update any heating or air conditioning motor to a high efficiency motor. The rebate available varies from $45 - $700 per motor. This program is set to expire 12/31/2010. This is another great opportunity offered by the utility company to help increase energy efficiency and reduce energy use. Connecticut Clean Energy Fund

The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund has been a wonderful benefit for residences and business alike. Connecticut consumers saved approximately $46 million last year. More than 3,100 businesses and municipalities, shared in the savings. Connecticut is being awarded the third highest energy efficiency scorecard in the nation by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy in 2009, according to the Energy Conservation Management Board. It seems that many people are taking advantage of of this wonderful program. They recently came out with their 2009 report with their goals for 2010 and how the funds were used in 2009. Where this funding is coming from

In 1998 the Connecticut State Legislature created the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund or CEEF. It was created to make it easy for residence and businesses to become more energy efficient. The Fund offers all sorts of incentives to help you pay for changes in your current construction or making new construction energy efficient. Sales and Use Tax Exemption for Energy-Efficient Products

Per The Connecticut Department of Revenue: In Connecticut, compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and certain “residential weatherization products” are exempt from the state's sales and use tax. In addition to CFLs, the exemption applies to programmable thermostats, window film, caulking, window and door weather strips, insulation, water heater blankets, water heaters, natural gas and propane furnaces and boilers that meet the federal Energy Star standard, windows and doors that meet the federal Energy Star standard, oil furnaces and boilers that are not less than 84% efficient and ground-source heat pumps that meet the minimum federal energy efficiency rating.
